Handbuilding 101 with Summer Tomes

Learn to use the best tools a potter has - their hands. In this beginner course, you will learn all the basic clay building techniques to form pottery without the need of a wheel. Handbuilding allows a ceramic artist to hand-form whatever they desire including bowls, platters, vases, and more. Learn pinch pots, coil pots, slab building, and more!
Handbuilding 101 is a beginner-level class - No prior clay experience required! We welcome all beginners, or those looking for a refresher course in wheel-throwing.
What's included:
- Six 2.5 hour instructional sessions
- One bag of clay ($30 value)
- Access to all studio supplies, materials and tools
This class is happening at our main studio location at 301 E. 11th Street in Chattanooga, TN.
Find the studio:The studio is located in the basement of ArtsBuild at the corner of 11th and King Streets. Enter the glass lobby door facing 11th street and take the elevator down to “B” level. The elevator will remain locked up until 15 minutes prior to class start time.
Parking is available in the lot directly to the right of ArtsBuild. Metered street parking is also available.

SCCA must have at least 4 students to make a class. If 4 students are not enrolled, we will inform you at least two days before the start date.
We do not offer any make-up classes.
