Scenic City Clay Arts Announces “The Joy Of Clay” Virtual Auction
Scenic City Clay Arts will be hosting “The Joy of Clay,” a virtual auction benefiting the studio, from March 16 - March 21, 2021. All auction proceeds will go to benefit Scenic City Clay Arts’ mission and studio operations.
Some auction items are now available for public view on Scenic City Clay Arts’ online auction platform. A full catalog of auction items will be available for browsing when online bidding launches starting at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 16. Auction bids will be accepted through 9 p.m. on Sunday, March 21.
All of the items in the virtual auction are created by local potters and artists, or are donated from local businesses. Many of the ceramic pieces have been created in Scenic City Clay Arts’ community studio by members, students, and instructors.
“We are so excited to be partnering with local businesses to pair their items with ceramic pieces made in our studio,” says Scenic City Clay Arts Executive Director, Joy Key. “For example, we are pairing a bottle of Chattanooga Whiskey with two gorgeous blue ceramic tumblers from JamieRae Pottery, both made right here in Chattanooga. We’re so thankful for the support of both our clay community, as well as our local business community.”
Other items in the auction include ceramic tiles created by artist Carrie Anne Parks, CBD products from Farm to Med, gift cards from downtown restaurants like Main Street Meats, and many more pottery pieces.
“The Joy of Clay” virtual auction provides Scenic City Clay Arts with an opportunity to replace some of their in-person fundraising events that have been canceled due to the pandemic. Like so many nonprofits across the country, Scenic City Clay Arts relies on donations to offset the costs of operations, and to provide free or reduced-cost programming to anyone who wants to experience clay arts.
“Clay arts matters because clay brings joy to so many. Whether you find peace in creating with clay or find happiness in bringing ceramics into your home for daily use and enjoyment, clay brings joy,” says Key.
