Firing fees for HCDE Visual Arts Teachers

Any applicable fees will be waived if ALL of the following criteria are met:

  • You are a current HCDE Visual Arts teacher

  • Your work was created by your visual arts students during class (we will not fire your personal work)

  • You have 30 pieces or less, and they are not excessively large

  • Your deadline for getting pieces back is at least 4-6 weeks out

Requirements:

  • All pieces must use our SCCA-approved Cone 6 clays and glazes.

    • Clay is $30 per 25 lb bag and can be purchased at the studio anytime during open hours

    • Glazes can be utilized during your second visit to the studio, prior to the second firing of work. Glazing is the sole responsibility of the Teacher, not SCCA.

  • Work will typically be fired within 4-6 weeks. If needed sooner, rush fees may be applicable.

  • Fired work will only be held at the studio for 2 weeks after it has completed its firing cycle. Any left behind items will be considered a donation to the studio.

  • You must pre-schedule your drop-off by emailing us at madison@sceniccityclayarts.org. During busy seasons at the studio, we may not be able to accommodate your firing request.

  • Any glaze or firing issues caused by student work may be subject to a damage fee.

  • If your work falls outside of the criteria listed above or you are NOT a Hamilton County Visual Arts Educator, please view our public firing options here.
