SCCA’s 2023-2027 Strategic Plan
In August 2022, SCCA began the process of creating a 5-year strategic plan for our organization in partnership with Community Consultants. After months of reviewing our current activities, holding focus groups, and defining our values, SCCA is pleased to announce that we have completed our strategic planning process. We have narrowed the focus of our next phase of growth into 6 main goals:
Address space needs to accommodate our increasing demand
Increase the financial stability and diversity of our organization
Deepen our collaborative partnerships
Create opportunities for continued learning and professional development
Amplify SCCA visibility in the community
Intentionally diversify SCCA board, staff, and membership to broaden our community
While many of these changes will be implemented gradually over a 5-year period, we plan to take some immediate actions in order to keep up with the increasing demand of our clay community:
First, we want to grant MORE access to the studio for our members. Starting in April, SCCA’s member studio will be open until 8:30 PM on Wednesdays.
Second, we want to keep up with firing turnaround times and increase our membership capacity by at least 50 people. Over the course of the next few months, we will make plans to restructure our glaze and kiln rooms to make space for a fourth kiln at our member studio.
Third, we want to continue to diversify our class offerings - providing more educational experiences for our intermediate and advanced potters, with a goal of hosting at least 1 visiting artist workshop each year. The first one will be held in August 2023 - more details to come!
Membership changes
Because of these upcoming changes, as well as the broader goals we want to achieve over the next 5 years, SCCA will increase membership rates starting in April 2023. The new prices will be:
Standard full access memberships: $58/month or $645/year
Discount full access memberships: $50/month or $595/year
Discount memberships are available for seniors 65+, active high school or college students, HCDE teachers, and military/veterans.
This price increase will help SCCA combat inflation and cover the rising cost of studio necessities such as glaze chemicals, kiln parts, and other supplies.
Thank you for your support!
We are deeply grateful for your continued support and commitment to SCCA as we have grown over the last few years. We are blown away by your encouragement, passion for clay arts, and dedication to molding this space into a wonderful creative community. Our staff and board are so excited to keep growing together and expanding our reach into the Chattanooga area. We could not do this without you so from the bottom of our hearts - thank you!
